Do you like it when a band or an artist performing in your hometown greets you in your own mother tongue? If you are not a native English speaker, then you definitely like that salutation in your language. It adds a little bit of warmth, it shows you that person/band went the extra mile and documented a little about your country and chose to learn something in your language. Even if it is a simple “hello” in your mother tongue, followed by the name of your city, it is still something when it is in your language.

But maybe you plan to travel to a foreign country and you don’t speak that language. You could try to learn a few words – in fact, it is always recommended to learn some basic phrases in the language of the country you are visiting, so that you could be able to ask for help or directions.
